Black Star Publishing has officially entered the arena—backed by bold vision, cultural clarity, and the creative force of two of Black Star Journeys Inc.’s founding leaders: Nyjal J. Drayton, Chief Executive Officer, and Nikolas X. Mejia, Executive Vice President. Both Drayton and Mejia recently released debut titles under the imprint, setting the tone for a publishing arm built to disrupt, educate, and empower.
In March, Drayton released AI For The Culture: How Emerging Tech is Leveling The Playing Field—a bold, culturally rooted guide that breaks down the power of artificial intelligence for everyday people. Focused on access, equity, and future-building, the book lays out why AI is one of the most important tools our communities need to understand, shape, and lead with—before it’s shaped for us.
In May, Mejia published The Learning Revolution—a visionary call to reimagine how we teach, learn, and grow in an era of constant innovation. Blending personal insight with systems thinking, he challenges outdated educational models and proposes a framework that puts curiosity, design, and equity at the center of learning.
Together, these releases reflect the dual DNA of Black Star Journeys: radical imagination and practical transformation.
What is Black Star Publishing?
Black Star Publishing is the literary and intellectual property arm of Black Star Journeys Inc., created to champion original works by our founders and aligned visionaries. But this isn’t just an imprint—it’s a platform for new frameworks, cultural blueprints, and game-changing ideas that challenge the status quo.
We publish work that doesn’t just inform—it activates.
From essays and books to digital curricula and cultural commentary, our mission is to amplify thinkers and builders at the intersection of technology, identity, and ownership.
Expanding Our Impact: From Books to Classrooms
In June, Black Star Publishing released its first educational work: a full AI Literacy Curriculum designed for students in grades 4–12. This culturally grounded, hands-on program is already being implemented across school systems and community-based initiatives.
Where most educational tools focus on teaching about AI, this curriculum is designed to teach students how to use it—confidently, critically, and creatively. It’s an invitation to young people to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as future architects of it.
What’s Next?
The debut of AI For The Culture, The Learning Revolution, and the Training Day™: AI Literacy Curriculum marks just the beginning of what’s to come. Black Star Publishing will continue to release original works that speak directly to the future—across genres, across mediums, and across movements.
From cultural manifestos to digital design handbooks, our next chapter is already being written.
