This October, Black Star Journeys launched Project Pink—a breast cancer awareness initiative rooted in visibility, care, and community-centered purpose.
The initiative is designed as a starting point for ongoing awareness efforts—grounded in the realities facing Black and underserved communities when it comes to breast cancer.
Why Awareness Matters
Breast cancer continues to disproportionately impact Black women across the United States:
Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than other ethnicities, despite lower diagnosis rates overall.Younger Black women, particularly under the age of 40, are more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive forms of the disease.Delayed diagnoses, lack of access to quality healthcare, and systemic inequities all contribute to these outcomes.
Raising awareness is not a performative act—it is a necessary one. Project Pink aims to keep this issue visible and relevant, especially in communities that often face the greatest barriers to prevention, detection, and care.
About the Project Pink Giveaway
As part of this year’s awareness campaign, Black Star Apparel (BSA) is releasing a limited-edition Project Pink piece—a minimal yet bold design made in limited quantity to mark this important initiative.
In addition to the drop, Black Star Journeys (BSJ) and Black Star Apparel (BSA) have partnered to launch the official Project Pink Giveaway, aimed at raising awareness while giving back to the community in a tangible way.

Looking Ahead
Project Pink is intended to grow over time into a more expansive and impactful initiative.
In the coming years, Black Star Journeys plans to partner with organizations that focus specifically on breast cancer education, early detection, and support services within Black and underserved communities. Future iterations of Project Pink will include fundraising efforts, broader campaigns, and direct community support initiatives.
A Long-Term Commitment
This is not a one-time campaign. It’s the beginning of a long-term commitment to spotlighting health issues that disproportionately affect the communities Black Star Journeys was created to serve. Project Pink reflects that mission—by showing up, staying informed, and building toward something greater, year by year.
